The Editing Tools tab offers ten
editing functions you use everyday within Sony Vegas. It combines
them into one panel for power users and can be used as individual
editing functions. Copy/paste multiple events to new tracks,
stuttering audio and/or video, creating J or L cuts, capturing
image sequences, and adjusting transition lengths are just some of
the power tools found in this tab.

The Markers tool allows you to create
markers from various projects and save them as a separate text
file to be loaded into any new project. Use it for saving
subtitles, creating templates, or remembering specific edit
choices. Markers may be created at each event and Regions may be
turned into chapters to be used with DVD Architect. Additionally,
markers may be placed at specific intervals, contracted in
distance by specific lengths of time, and can be edited with cut
points. It’s your choice.

In the Film Looks tab, with a click
of a mouse, choose from a variety of film looks or create your
own, using 24p transformation and the added FX presets. If you
merely want to create a conversion from 4:3 footage to 16:9
footage without the 24p process, you also have that option.
Ultimate S will instruct Vegas to create the proper conversion
settings.

Audio Tab tools tab includes automatic
ducking for voiceovers where you may pre-determine the amount of
ducking that will take place between the voiceover track and any
other selected music/bed tracks. In this same tool/tab, missing
audio from a video event may be immediately located or re-synced
to video on the timeline. Further, a two-second gap may be added
to audio events to comply with Redbook Audio standards.

The Visual Effects tab allows you to
access FX chains easily and store them more quickly. In addition,
FX chains may be added to the timeline or directly to media in
specific bins or Media Pool. Project-wide FX settings may be
applied or removed, presets accessed or created, and Event speed
may be directly controlled for all selected events across an
entire project or individual selections.

DuoCam is a fast and intuitive tool
that allows users to implement two-camera editing based on marker
placement. DuoCam first sets up dual views of video events with or
without the original timecode displays. After markers are placed,
DuoCam allows for automatic creation of transitions or straight
cuts all assigned to a Master Track. Video track names do not
require specific naming conventions.

The Audit Tool allows Ultimate S to
seek out hidden errors such as incorrect opacity settings and
frame gaps or overlaps. It will automatically delete unused media
from the Media Pool. You may also save and reload a list of used
media from the Media Pool.
