GEARSHIFT is a tool that will allow HDV users to convert their files to the Sony 4:2:2 YUV codec, which is a superior method of working towards professional HD output.

At the same time, GEARSHIFT can also convert your HDV .m2t files, AVCHD .mts files or even .m2ts files, MXF files, or Red R3D files to a DV Widescreen proxy stream. This means that even if you own a slower computer, or if you want to edit on a laptop or other less than optimal system for editing HD, you can use proxy streams for most of your editing work!

In addition to the file conversion, GEARSHIFT will convert your file to 24p if you’d like. GEARSHIFT from VASST supports Vegas 6.0, 7.0 & Vegas Pro 8.0 & 9.0.

GEARSHIFT will:

* Convert HD and Red files to 4:2:2 YUV
* Create a DV proxy for portable editing
* Create a 24p stream as a 4:2:2 YUV and/or DV proxy
* Create a 25p stream as a 4:2:2 YUV and/or DV proxy
* Convert your 1080i stream to 720p stream
* Offer batch-based access to all formats, including CineForm encoding
* Correctly replace proxies with HD media as either an m2t or a 4:2:2 YUV file
* Allow you to extract media from various locations, and remember those locations when you shift gears!
* Allow you to create your own templates for both proxies and intermediaries
* Allow you to only convert the parts of your footage that you will actually use

*4:2:2 YUV is required if you are using a BlackMagic Design Decklink card.
