When I use the Film Looks functions, it renders a new
file. Why is that?
- The Celluloid Film Looks will force Vegas to
change it's project properties to 23.976 IVTC, and will
render a new file that is 24P if you check the 24P tic box. You should only do rough
cuts prior to this process, and then create edits, titles,
transitions, color correction, etc based on the 24P file
and not the original file.
Celluloid is a scripting application for Sony
Vegas 4 and Sony Vegas 5. When you install it, it also
installs ReelPak-1by David Jimerson.
What is ReelPak-1 by David Jimerson?
ReelPak-1 by David Jimerson is a collection
of 15 Film Looks that mimic popular types of film looks
available from various sources. It may be installed as a
module to VASST's Ultimate S application, or may be
installed as a part of the Celluloid standalone application.
Can I run Celluloid at the same time as I'm running Ultimate
S?
Absolutely. In fact, we hope you want to.
Ultimate S has all the same features as Celluloid, plus an
additional 50 features not found in Celluloid, but they may
run on the same computer in the same instance of Vegas. We
think you might like to have the full stand-alone version of
Celluloid because of the cool-looking interface.
Once
you hit okay in film effects, you cannot cancel the render,
the cancel button does not work.
You can press ESC (escape) and
it will cancel the renders. You can’t click on Cancel with
the mouse because the Celluloid dialog is hidden but the
script is still blocking you from interacting with Vegas.
Why do
my Celluloid and other script icons disappear from the
Toolbar?
This is a
known issue within Vegas 5, where icons occasionally
disappear from the toolbar.
Will Celluloid run in older versions of Vegas?
We do offer a version of Celluloid for Vegas
4e. Earlier versions of Vegas do not have all the same
scripting capability as Vegas 4.0e and Vegas 5. As
Vegas has matured, so have the number of accesses Sony has
allowed programmers to have regarding the software.
How do
I load the Celluloid icon on my toolbar?
Load the Celuloid icon on your
toolbar by double clicking the toolbar. The Customize
Toolbar window opens. On the left side, scroll down until
you find the Celluliod icon. YClick ADD in the Customize
Toolbar, and it will install the icon to the toolbar next
to any script icons you may already have in place.

How do I

it?
-

> VASST Celluloid > License Installer.and just cut and
paste the key into it and press OK. That's all there is to
it. This should unlock the program.
Let us know if you have any problems.
What is the 30P checkbox for?
The 30P
checkbox allows Celluloid to set up a 30P project and apply
Film Looks to the project. Use this if your delivery is to a
Progressive Scan DVD.
What is the "Reduce Interlace Filter"
checkbox for?
Sometimes,
when applying the Widescreen aspect from a 4:3 project, you
may see interlacing artifacts. This is normal, and is media
dependent. For this reason, Celluloid offers the opportunity
to apply the Vegas Reduce Interlace Flicker to all media on
the timeline. Use this if you see interlacing or flickering
at the top or bottom of your media. Depending on the media,
it potentially may soften the image.
Celluloid
and Ultimate S are both ready for HDV at either the 720p
or 1080i resolutions.
Yes, you
can download it by clicking
here.
How do I start Celluloid for the first time?
Celluloid is a script plug-in for Vegas and
must be run from within Vegas. If you have Vegas 5, you
will find it under: Tools > Scripting > VASST Celluloid >
Celluloid .
If you have Vegas 4 you have to use: Tools
> Scripting > Run Script... And find it on your file
system top run. (C:\Program Files\VASST\VASST Celluloid
for Vegas 4\Celluloid.js).
